Family Friendly Activities!

The Durham Art Guild Art-A-Thon (site 2). The Durham Art Guild is hosting an exciting 11 hour ART-A-THON in the SunTrust Gallery at 120 Morris Street (Sites 1 and 2)! Multiple artists are setting up temporary studios in the middle of the gallery and creating affordable original artwork on the spot to sell during the Durham Art Walk Holiday Market. There will be a fun mixture of arts and crafts for you to explore! All donations and a percentage of art sales from the Art-A-Thon will benefit the exhibitions programs and operations of the Durham Art Guild. Come see the artists in action and help support the Guild! The Durham Art Guild is a nonprofit member-driven visual arts organization established in 1948. Their mission is to enrich and connect our communities by creating opportunities and providing leadership for current and future visual artists and art enthusiasts.

Liberty Arts Pour (site 20)
On November 18, Liberty Arts is offering a scratch block workshop 10 AM – 3 PM and Iron Pour at the George Watts Pavilion in Durham Central Park (site 19). The workshop is $30 per scratch block. Molds created from the scratch blocks will be cast during the pour to be collected the next day. Saturday evening the 2nd Annual Iron Pour in Durham Central Park will have live music, local craft beer, a slate of food trucks, performances, and – of course – molten cast iron!

Meet the Piedmont Laureate! (site 1)
Poet Mimi Herman, the 2017 Piedmont Laureate, will be at the Durham Arts Council on Saturday from 1:30-3:30PM with a project creating Hands-on Poems of Gratitude.

Last Chance to View The Fence! (site 13)
The Fence 2017 is a prestigious, outdoor, international touring photography exhibit created by Photo Ville and sponsored locally by The City of Durham, the Durham Cultural Advisory Board and the Durham Public Art Committee. Selected photographs are printed on a 1,000 ft. long fence installation adjacent to City Hall and the Chapel Hill Parking Deck through November 30. Docents available between 1:30-3:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

Food trucks can be found parked outside of DAC (site 1), Vega Metals (site 17), and the Durham Armory (site 14) throughout the Art Walk weekend!
