Family Friendly Activities!

Books, Beer & Bluejazz: Saturday, November 19, 12-4 PM, at the Blue Note Grill (site 16). Katy Munger, the 2016 Piedmont Laureate, will host an afternoon of well-known Durham-area authors reading from their work, bluegrass and jazz, local beers, and the downhome food of the renowned Blue Note Grill.

From noon until 2:00 PM, the Nash Street Ramblers will play their signature brand of blue grass, followed from 2:00 until 4:00 PM by guitar virtuoso and Sony recording artist Ed Stephenson, whose classical Spanish, flamenco, and flamenco fusion skills have been showcased by symphonies and in other special performances throughout the south. Authors Michael Malone, Margaret Maron, Katy Munger, Eryk Pruitt, Sarah Shaber, Cat Warren, and more will read from their work at intervals and take questions from the audience. Information on recommended books for the holidays will also be provided. Admission is free and open to the public. The event is family friendly, though most suited to children age 10 and over.

The Durham Art Guild Art-A-Thon (site 2). The Durham Art Guild is hosting an exciting 11 hour ART-A-THON in the SunTrust Gallery at 120 Morris Street (Sites 1 and 2)! Multiple artists are setting up temporary studios in the middle of the gallery and creating affordable original artwork on the spot to sell during the Durham Art Walk Holiday Market. There will be a fun mixture of arts and crafts for you to explore! All donations and a percentage of art sales from the Art-A-Thon will benefit the exhibitions programs and operations of the Durham Art Guild. Come see the artists in action and help support the Guild! The Durham Art Guild is a nonprofit member-driven visual arts organization established in 1948. Their mission is to enrich and connect our communities by creating opportunities and providing leadership for current and future visual artists and art enthusiasts.
